It’s been more than 25 years since Demi Moore bared her pregnant belly on the cover of @Vanity Fair, but retailers are finally catching up to the fact that pregnant women aren’t always into muumuus. That’s right! Some #pregnant women want to — gasp — flaunt it. As a result, the maternity aisle is rapidly looking more like a high-end boutique, and a new crop of online shops and specialty stores are emerging. @rosiepope, for example, operates 3 boutiques in New York and Santa Monica, California, and sells her clothes online through @Shopbop. Her goal: to offer on-trend clothes with discreet adjustments that flatter a pregnant silhouette, like stretchy panels in the waist of low-cut skinny jeans that show off the bump and accentuate the legs. #Maternity “was that thing that you found next to the granny underwear in the back of the department store,” @rosiepope told a @ニューヨーク・タイムズ business reporter. “That’s not what it is anymore.” @karstenmoran took this photo from behind the scenes at a recent #RosiePope fashion shoot in Manhattan.
