The Swedish photojournalist @peranderspettersson has spent the last 5 years documenting the #fashion scene in sub-Saharan Africa. He took this photo of the Sudanese model @akuoldemabior in a @davidtlale design at Cape Town’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in July 2011. Several of the designers whose work @peranderspettersson has photographed, including @davidtlale, have shown their work internationally, but @peranderspettersson has focused on shows in Africa. In the more established fashion weeks — in South Africa, as well as Nigeria and Senegal — designers, models and buyers converge from all over the continent, and African-born designers who work abroad often return to showcase their latest Western-inspired collections. @peranderspettersson’s new book, “African Catwalk,” features photos from the more than 40 shows he has attended over the 2 decades he has lived in Africa.
