A tailor’s shop at a market in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. Helmand is not only the world capital of opium and heroin production, but also the country’s deadliest province. 3,000 Afghan government soldiers and policemen have been killed there in the last 11 months. That’s at least half of the estimated 6,000 Afghan security forces, police officers and soldiers killed in the entire country over the last year — a sharp rise from last year, a senior Afghan official told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. Maj. Gen.
