The Catholic community has contributed much to Singapore.
I was glad to meet Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State of the Holy See, yesterday.
Cardinal Parolin conveyed his condolences, and the sympathies of Pope Francis, on Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s passing. He said the relationship between the Holy See and Singapore was very good, and congratulated us on SG50.
I thanked him, and told him the Government was very happy with the Catholic Church’s good work.
