Checking out new security features on the #SG50 commemorative notes I unveiled yesterday.
The series consists of one $50 note and five $10 notes. Like the current notes, the front of each commemorative note features a portrait of Mr Yusof Ishak. The backs of the notes carry special designs celebrating ordinary Singaporeans, as well as our history, values and aspirations.
The $50 note has an image of Mr Lee Kuan Yew shouting “Merdeka!” – the battle cry of our independence struggle.
At 50, we remember how far we have come, and take pride in the home we have built.
The notes are available from 20 August onwards at DBS Bank/POSB, OCBC, UOB and other major banks. Singaporeans will be given priority from 20 August to 30 September – bring your NRIC for proof of citizenship.
