Met local band 53A at the #SingaporeBotanicGardens yesterday. They performed a medley of National Day songs in four languages – very Singaporean!
As part of the #Jubilee Celebrations, we held a concert recreating the “Aneka Ragam Ra’ayat” (People’s Variety Show) in the Gardens. For those of you old enough to remember, these were open-air multi-cultural concerts, organised by the Ministry of Culture. I attended the first one in August 1959, in the Gardens with my father.
