"In 1977 I met #TomWaits on a flight from Los Angeles to New York. We both were sitting in the same row on coach and at the time I didn’t know he was a famous musician. We both discovered that we had many similarities. We both were from Los Angeles but living in New York within a few blocks, and we were born within days of each other. When he found out I was a photographer, he asked if I could take some photographs of him for a publication. I said sure because as a commercial photographer I thought this would be a good break from usual work. We met at the Capitol Theatre in New Jersey where Tom was rehearsing.
