"Before shooting #KeanuReeves I was warned he could be difficult. In my experience shooting celebrities, some are and some aren’t, but I never wanted to shoot celebrities to be friends with them. It is an opportunity to photograph an interesting subject and my goal is to walk away with an interesting image. When he arrived, he didn’t say much, and after a few frames I wasn’t feeling it. I was shooting digital and pulled out my Mamiya RZ67 and asked if we could shoot some film. I felt an instant shift in his energy, so I told him why I loved the camera and still loved shooting film. I asked him to think of something he loved while I shot this image. Three frames later we were done. I don’t know what he connected to in that moment but he wasn’t being difficult and I’m glad I didn’t blow that opportunity by judging him.
