A @ニューヨーク・タイムズ correspondent who was traveling with the expedition reported on their heroic return to Norway, 15 hours and 51 minutes after departure: “Many of the crew completely broke down with emotion, and with tears streaming from their eyes embraced the fliers. Commander Byrd’s nose and several fingers were frozen ... but treatment here speedily restored circulation, and the Commander is all right now.” #tbt
