People often joke that Singaporeans like being first. Last night, I spent time with ones who were first, and truly deserve to be first – 100 members of our Pioneer Generation. They are the first recipients of the PG card, which we launched yesterday.

The PG card entitles holders to medical benefits for the rest of their lives, and relieves them of any worries over healthcare costs. We will be mailing the card to 450,000 PGs all over Singapore by 1 September, when the scheme begins.
