One of one. This 1962 Ferrari 330 LM / 250 GTO is the answer for those seeking the most rare and precious of cars. ⁣

The Works GTO, chassis no. 3765, began life as the ninth car built by date, and number 14 of 34 made with the Tipo coachwork. Under the hood, it left Maranello equipped with the only 4-liter engine ever put in a Works GTO—a fitting experiment by Scuderia Ferrari that would prove itself worthy, taking advantage of the International Championship of Manufacturers allowance of larger displacement prototype racecars in certain events (although not eligible for points). It would finish second overall at its first outing at the 1962 Nürburgring 1000 KM. Ferrari would later enter it in the ’62 24 Hours of Le Mans, outfitted with a different 4-liter engine with six Weber 42 DCN carburetors. The end of the season meant the end of the 4-liter class-eligible events, and the end of the 250’s racing career with Scuderia.⁣

Ferrari then prepared the car for client sales, where its 4-liter race engine was replaced with a 3-liter GTO developmental engine, which it is still equipped with today. To ensure it was completed properly, Ferrari had John Surtees, Formula 1 and motorcycle World Champion, test drive the car at the Modena Autodromo.⁣
