Following its appearance in a highly-acclaimed solo exhibition at Tate Britain this year, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s ‘Six Birds in the Bush’ (2015) set a new auction record for the artist at #SothebysLondon tonight. The work sold for £2.9m / $3.6m—more than double the previous record—and established the highest price at auction for a Black British woman artist.

@michaelmacaulay took to the rostrum for the #SothebysNOW Evening Auction, which closed with an above-estimate total of £15.5m / $19m, up 75% on last season’s sale.
