Ranging from 50 to 200 meters in height, these unique geological formations were fashioned by the erosion of a volcanic crater that erupted over 6 million years ago. Iron contained in the lava splashes repeatedly ejected during the eruption oxidized, forming the vibrant red color and striking striped pattern of the cliffs. 🌋 👀 You can get the best views of the Red Cliff either by looking down on it from the observation deck or up from the Sea of Japan via cruise. The one-hour cruise operates from April to October.
