“To mark man’s conquest of space with time, through time, on time,” reads the engraving on astronaut Jack Swigert’s Omega Speedmaster 145.022 BA. First presented during a gala dinner held on 25 November 1969 in honor of the first lunar landing, each watch in the limited edition has this inscription and is further personalized by the recipient’s name and their respective NASA missions.

Here, Sotheby’s specialists @the_lynx_eyed and @thamjan talk through Swigert’s historic Apollo 13 mission and the incredible provenance of this particular watch, coming to auction for the first time after 53 years in the Important Watches sale at #SothebysNewYork on 9 June, presented in partnership with @silverseacruises.
