Since 1 year ago, beside regular Solution, there has also been a younger sibling Solution Comp. That's my absolute favorite shoe for indoor lead climbing and steep climbing on the rock. It's considerably softer than regular Solution, which means more sensibility in the toe-box and makes me feel more secure while moving my feet quickly. Compared to regular Solutions, the heel part is softer and more narrow. I wouldn't say it's better or worse, it's just different. Despite a pretty agressive down-turn shape, it's still soft enough for smearing on the volumes. Which could be also disadvantage when it comes to edging in less steep or vertical terrain, when a lot of weight and pressure is on the foot. That's why I still bring regular Solution for the climbs where I put a lot of pressure onto the feet, especially when hard kneebars are included. That's why regular Solutions were the obvious choice for Perfecto Mundo as most of the other shoes wouldn't take the immense pressure of the kneebars. Even though for most of Perfecto Mundo, Solution Comp would actually work much better and I'd be more sensitive and thus more secure with my footwork. Due to the higher sensibility, I climbed most of the other routes in Margalef in Solution Comp and I absolutely loved them. Both regular Solutions and Solution Comp come up in two versions - regular ones and its female version. In general, female versions are softer and work better if your weight is low. For all kids and teenagers, female versions will most likely be the better option. Your weight and shoe size will be a pretty decisive factor for the perception of the stiffness. Even though I'm using Solution Comp for competitions as I find stiffness/sensitivity balance just perfect for the comps, sometimes I take the female version for the climbs when I want even more sensitive shoe. And that can be true even for the heel part. I know it takes some courage to climb in pink shoes, but it might be worth it, guys!
