I was born in Wichita, Kansas, where I grew up assembling model cars with my dad, building sparkly GIF graphics for my beanie baby fan site, and belting out the wrong lyrics to my favorite musicals. 2. Keen on efficiency, I hacked my way through college in 2 years, which involved convincing professors that I’d already aced their courses in high school. It was my first real-life lesson in how to creatively navigate bureaucracy and institutions. 3. While studying Anthropology and Journalism, I went to Peru and wrote my college thesis on ayahuasca. I’ve been a fierce advocate of psychedelic research ever since, and am thrilled that mainstream discourse has finally caught on. 4. After a brief stint on American Idol, I decided to move to LA and pursue wildly irrational dreams to work in entertainment. 15 years later, I’m still here (!?) 5. While some of you know me from my (ridiculous) YouTube videos about internet stalking, coffee, and goats, I’ve also acted in sitcoms, hosted live red carpets and talk shows, developed TV series, produced YouTube videos, and more recently, composed an album using AI and produced/co-directed my first feature length documentary. I have professional A.D.D. — but always follow my heart. 6. For the past 5 years, I’ve put my creative energy into helping breakthrough ideas in science/tech reach the broader public (more on that in my next post.) 7. In 2019, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer — and life came to a grinding halt. As I finished a long stretch of daily hospital visits, a pandemic hits. OH, WDFJK?! I spent the next six months exclusively wearing sweatpants and not feeling bad about it. 8. Nov 2020, I’m declared in remission….so I retreat to Bali for an end-of-year healing celebration! SO - I think that’s about it? Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing more on my current pipeline of work and play…and how I’ll be evolving this Instagram to focus more on cutting edge tech/science that will improve your life.
