Not that long ago, I was in Kiryat Luza village atop Mount Gerizim near Nablus, when a strangeness happened. Here is a most unique area where nearly 50 percent of all Samaritans live, in or around this sacred mountain. There are only about 820 Samaritans on earth, all claiming to be decedents of the two sons of Joseph (Genesis) and the Levites, living either on Mount Gerizim in the West Bank or in Holon, Israel. Well, enough of the ancient history that dates back to the 14 century BC… Moments before prayers at the start of a circumcision ceremony for a young boy named Yker Sadaka, two Samaritan priests started shouting at each other, and so began a profoundly eruptive argument. Over what, I had no clue! Shortly after, everyone calmed, and so it began. Strange things do happen…
