So this weekend, we all could use a little love…Trees. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Always in awe of nature, how alive everything around us is, as a little boy I would lay under a Poinciana tree in our backyard where I lived in the Bahamas, imagining how moving that red-flowered tree was. Not moving as emotionally and at times, spiritually…I was maybe too young to understand that deeper layer. It was tree’s actual movement. Our weakness, we tend to function in clock and calendar time, limited in our perception. It wasn’t until much later I learned how to see trees move in their time with nature. In May, 2007, I was driving in a car through central Java in Indonesia and noticed in my periphery, that near mystical space we all have, the trees all around me were in motion. Opening the universe into just how alive, moving, these alleged motionless bodies and arms of nature actually are. So began a seven-year journey photographing trees around the world in their beauty of motion. From my periphery in buses, cars, backs of motorcycles, or simply walking. This first of many trees in dance from 2007 is titled, “Trees - Indonesia”, and is on the Prints page of my website. Here are a few others from China, Bangladesh and Japan.
