‘Girl from Mora Skiing’ by Anders Zorn was painted in 1915, ten years after the artist returned to his childhood home of Mora, in the region of Dalarna in central Sweden. The return to a traditional way of life and a sense of rootedness was welcomed by Zorn, following a cosmopolitan period establishing himself in high society across London, Paris and the US.

Last offered at auction in Sweden in 1994, when it was acquired by Irish businessman Sir Michael Smurfit, it now returns to the auction block as part of our online sale of European & British Art, which opens for bidding on 2 December. Click link in bio for more information.
