As the youngest member of Fleet Street, O'Neill's editors wanted him to take photos of the new music groups that were coming-up in the wake of the Beatles. It was Andrew Loog Oldham who called Terry O'Neill to ask him to take shots of a new band he was managing. "I could see right away these guys were different," O'Neill remembers. "They just looked cool. At first, they weren’t really sure what their style would be and style was important back then. They tried to dress alike, in suits, but that didn’t fit their style. They wanted to be individuals." Terry O'Neill took the band over to Tin Pan Alley, legendary home of Britain’s music scene, and captured the band on the brink of superstardom. “I remember taking the photos over to my editors on Fleet Street and they were horrified! They thought they were ugly and yelled get me a pretty band like the Beatles. Little did they know that some 60 years later, they would still be the greatest band in the world."
