It’s fun and nostalgic to go through these different chapters of my life and to think of all that can happen in, say, a decade of time. It’s been nine years since this photo was taken (by my mom) after the Arco World Championships Awards Ceremony. Here, @adam.ondra and I pose after receiving our gold medals from our respective men and women overall titles. This event was out of a dream for me; unfolding in a way that led me to feel like this gold medal was this random fluke. To be quite honest I look at a lot of my competition successes that way; it was always easier for me to comprehend the losses and to feel what I did wrong than to fully accept how things went so right for me on a given day. The trophy and title represent an achievement in time that I am proud of. But there have so many eclectic moments- from sport specific wins and losses to more transcendent life events that have shaped me into who I am. What I can say about all of them is that every experience is a lesson to learn from; with lighter and darker components, often entangled together to make it what it is. This memory brings me strength as I look ahead, to remember what I am capable of if I believe in myself and I try my best.
