I want to play it forward by highlighting @kjorgeson - @1climb_official  As well as @kailightner @climbing4change These are just two of the many important foundations out there to encourage inclusivity, equality, and access within climbing.   With the support of @adidasTerrex 1Climb will be able to install 10 new permanent climbing walls in Boys and Girls Clubs across the US. The 10 new walls will be built in areas of New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago.  @climbing4change connects underserved communities with individuals and organizations that seek to increase minority participation in rock climbing and the outdoor adventure industry. From athletes to industry leaders or film makers, climbing4change is working to make our industry a more inclusive environment.  When I first started to climb, my parents had no clue what that even meant. However, soon after I startet (about 6-7 years old), my mom learned to belay me (mombelay!) so that she could help me climb more. She drove me around the country to compete. My entry into climbing was through a climbing gym, @sportrock and also @earthtreks . Being from a city (Washington, DC), it took a bit for me to learn more about the surrounding outdoor areas, and my career really began in a gym, in the competition realm.  It wasn’t the traditional route at the time, a city kid becoming a pro climber, but the bridge from indoor to outdoor was built by the community around me, people who loved climbing and wanted to share it with me. I am thankful for the community and for the genuine, palpable passion that so many people emit. I was welcomed by others and embraced as an equal.
