Photo by @daisygilardini Coastal grizzly bears in Alaska’s Lake Clark National Park live in strict harmony with the ocean. During spring the bears graze like livestock at pasture. They’re particularly fond of the new, fresh sedges. In the summer and fall the ocean is their main source of protein. At low tide they like to scout the mudflats in search of clams. In the fall, when they have to build up the fat necessary for hibernation, they gather in river estuaries to gorge on salmon.
