Photo by @Tim Laman. I’ve spent much of the past week reviewing all the footage I shot in Maine for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology recently, and selecting still images. Here is a shot of loon parents with their newly hatched chick on its very first swim. Amazingly, loon chicks enter the water the day they hatch, and they never go back to land until they nest for themselves. They are completely at home on the water from day 1!
