This is miles away from the snowflakes you used to make in grade school!
Artist Karen “Bit” Vejle is a self-taught expert of psaligraphy, or the art of papercutting. Using just a pair of scissors, she creates vast, intricate designs that tell elaborate stories. This piece depicts a dragon egg — dragons are a symbol of power and strength in her native Norway and in China (where papercutting originated). See if you can spot the iconic features of Norway here: its high mountains, deep valleys and — of course! — the Northern lights. To see more of Bit's exquisite, intricate work, head to the link in our bio.
