This past April marked the 30th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope (@nasahubble ) going into orbit. Since its launch, it's transmitted jaw-dropping images like this one — of the Pillars of Creation, three gaseous plumes that stand 50 trillion kilometers in height — but only in black and white. That's where @NASA photo editor Zoltan Levay comes in, introducing color, clarifying details that can get lost over 6,500 light years, and showing us earthlings what's actually going on in space. "I hope the image gives people some inkling of the size, complexity and the dynamism that’s happening in a region of space like this," says Levay. Learn more about his process of creating these pictures at the link in our bio. [Images: Zoltan Levay]
