I'm still doing everything I have to do, but just enjoying switching off and doing nothing too. I used to always be GO GO GO and think that never stopping was a great thing, but now I'm wondering how much of that was linked to anxiety and the need to be constantly moving or distracted? I'm finally starting to think the Mediterraneans might be on to something with their slower pace. Anyway, today I've been thinking about something, and I'd love to get your take on it. I've been thinking from my experiences and lots of other of my female friends, how normal it is to obsess over fu*k boys, or guys who clearly don't like us. We make so many excuses for their poor behaviour, or convince ourselves we will be the person that changes them (spoiler alert: we won't be). So here's what I've been thinking: growing up, I was always told not to be crazy. I was always told that boys don't like sluts or 'easy girls', but I was never ever taught about self respect, boundaries, or told to never entertain a man who lacked respect for me or other women. I was made to change my clothes at school so I wouldn't excited the boys, rather than the boys being taught to respect women. It was always about the girls adhering to a set of rules for what boys liked. Does anyone get what I'm saying? If you're currently entertaining a fu*k boy, or making excuses for bad behaviour, ask yourself why you'd want to be with someone who doesn't respect you? A very wise friend once said to me, "you're not in love with him, you just want him like you wanted a Barbie doll as a child. But that's not love honey, that's your pride." Would LOVE to know thoughts on this. ❤️」5月19日 4時48分 - ashleylouisejames
