Barbell Pause Presses are great for developing strength in the chest
One thing I like to do when performing this movement is have a slow and controlled negative (eccentric) and explosive positive (concentric) portion of the movement.
The pause press closely mimics the top half of motion of a flat barbell bench press. The pause at bottom of the motion eliminates all momentum and forces you to be strict with your form.
The main benefit of this movement is that it increases your explosive pressing strength
These can also be done with dumbbells or the very least a band. If you’re looking to increase your strength on chest presses, this one is a must 👊
