Barbell Pause Presses are great for developing strength in the chest ⁣

One thing I like to do when performing this movement is have a slow and controlled negative (eccentric) and explosive positive (concentric) portion of the movement. ⁣

The pause press closely mimics the top half of motion of a flat barbell bench press. The pause at bottom of the motion eliminates all momentum and forces you to be strict with your form. ⁣

The main benefit of this movement is that it increases your explosive pressing strength⁣

These can also be done with dumbbells or the very least a band. If you’re looking to increase your strength on chest presses, this one is a must 👊⁣
