(Flip to photo 2 read) There’s a bit about “finding a new normal” that was just WAY TOO fitting for what we’re all experiencing. The last two pages are from “Women Who Run With The Wolves”, a book that I put down after COVID hit and my dreams of running wild this year were put on pause, but I have recently picked it back up again. Finding all sorts of relevant and soul stirring wisdom bites in it. 🐺 I recommend this book to any woman who is experiencing a soul awakening or who feels like the life she’s currently in no longer fits. It’s a call to reconnect with the wild instinct that many of us lose because of familial and/or societal conditioning, being in relationships or jobs that stifle our creativity and personal desires, or in chasing an ideal for success and happiness that is not our own. At a certain point we wake up. We finally hear the call within. And when we do, we are slightly bewildered at how the life we lead doesn’t feel true to the life within. The book’s lessons are laid out through stories gathered from all over the world. The tales are then unpacked by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, a Jungian psychoanalyst who draws deep connections in a poetic manner. It’s not a quick read. It’s a soulful one. One that calls for frequent pause and reflection on how these themes present in your own life. The book opens with: “We are all filled with a longing for the wild. There are few culturally sanctioned antidotes for this yearning. We were taught to feel shame for such a desire. We grew our hair out and use it to hide our feelings. But the shadow of the Wild Woman still lurks begins us during our days and in our nights. No matter where we are, the shadow the trots behind us is definitely four-footed.” 🐾 Woof.🌕」4月20日 0時27分 - nicole_mejia
