Photo by @クリス・バーカード | The sea cliffs of the Faroe Islands are the tallest in Europe and some of the highest in the world. It’s almost as if they are guarding the islands from modern society, making this place feel ancient and virtually untouched. The islands rest almost exactly halfway between Iceland and Norway, a stone’s throw away from the Arctic Circle. On shore, the climate is too harsh to support agriculture, so the Faroese get by on a diet of mainly sheep and fish. Growing up on the central coast of California, I have never experienced anything close to what the Faroese people have, with access to all kinds of food and amenities on a daily occurrence. This is why traveling to such remote places can be extremely humbling and rewarding, to gain a better perspective on the endurance of the human spirit.
