I took this picture 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) from the North Pole, in a place that, historically, is surrounded by sea ice year-round. Now the ice is mostly gone, and these walrus have to travel greater distances to reach shore for a rest between offshore feeding sessions.
If you want to save the walrus, then we need to reduce our carbon footprint. The math is easy but the task is monumental and will take a global shift—in both perspective and behavior.
