Thanks to data and science we understand how a changing climate is affecting human existence. The foundation of life - water, food and shelter will be affected by our existence. A hotter planet will disproportionately affect marginalized communities. The burden will be borne by future generations. Climate activism asks of its adherents to care about the future of our planet and species. Our generation, the first to be cognizant of climate change, has the opportunity to act and address critical change to ensure that the planet can support humanity for generations to come. Humans are not perfect. Those of us who live in modernized cultures have evolved to consume tons of carbon. Our lifestyles leave a big footprint. Each of us can work towards a less energy intensive existence, which will help the CO2 conundrum. More significantly, we need to encourage governments to be proactive in addressing this challenge by reducing carbon centric energy and embracing sustainability.
