For the first time the US House of Congress passed a stand-alone bill protecting the Arctic Refuge. ❄️ H.R. 1146 bans drilling on the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge of Alaska. This scenic area is the calving ground of the Porcupine caribou herd and the ancestral lands of the Gwich’in. 🗳 The bill will move to Senate.
The limited oil that this region would produce can be met by efficiency and the growing wind and solar sector.
