Meet the Australian green tree frog (Litoria caerulea), known as the “dumpy tree frog” to locals because of its heft. You might spot it in Australia’s forests, swamps…or toilet bowls! This tree frog grows up to 4.5 inches (11.4 centimeters) long; females typically grow larger than males. With the help of its large mucus-covered toe pads, the critter is able to climb and cling to surfaces with ease. The steady secretion of mucus also helps keep its toes clean by “flushing” out contaminants and leaving them behind in the footprints!
