Best unintended birthday gift ever! 😉
A huge thank you @Psych_Today for including me in the July issue to chat about @iamhumanfilm, artificial intelligence, and other thoughts on the future. If you haven’t read the magazine, it’s a gem of insight into all things psychology/mind/brain, packaged in a fun/digestible format. It was an honor to be featured, and even more so, a pleasant reminder that it can take a long time to see the small wins after years of change.

In my case, evolving from my past (former comedy actress/writer/YouTuber) into my present path (science and deep tech advocate/writer/storyteller) has been incredibly challenging. In an era where “branding” must be airtight, and Google doesn’t just conveniently forget a decade plus of work online, I knew the path wouldn’t be easy - but that hasn’t lessened the occasional blows of lost opportunity from those confused or unable to reconcile the two identities.

I still love irreverent humor, musicals and cats as much as I did in my 20s, but I’m immensely grateful to now be working on projects that satisfy my deepest curiosities, expand my views on the world, and fulfill my creativity and soul. Perhaps one day the two will merge in an interesting way, but in the meantime, thank you to the people and brands that have supported my efforts the past 4-5 years 🙏 And to my dear YouTube audience (there was almost 500K of you!) who faithfully stood by and still sent messages of support long after I stopped posting regularly.

Here’s to another year around the sun; to accepting the unknown; to evicting Bob; to evolution and unexpected magic.

lemonsugababe Irreverent, fun and silly shouldn’t be antithetical to smart, respectable or intellectual. What’s more, those things can (and should) coexist within one person. Anti-intellectualism has become endemic and we need storytellers and advocates in the world of science and tech (especially women!). I wish you well on the road tor recovery and in your new career. I hope the former is as short as possible and the latter as long as you want it to be. And happy birthday!?
