Happy 4th of July!! I tried to dress festive for the occasion but the onesie had no red...or stars...so feeling particularly grateful today for Instagram stickers. July 4th was always one of my favorite holidays as a kid - nothing better than Kansas BBQ, popsicles and fireworks on the Great Plains. In Los Angeles it’s been historically a more mixed bag. Too much traffic and tequila. It’s actually been nice to stay in this year, perusing everyone’s colorful instagram feeds while cuddling with Tiggie & portable Tiggie and listening to Elton John in the safety of my cool bedroom. Also admittedly feeling lots of complicated feelings about celebrating America when there’s so much suffering around the world and we still have such a long way to go here. But, celebrations and hope are what keep us all going, so I get there’s more than one way to look at it. Also feeling incredibly celebratory about so many things this week, as evidenced in my handy slideshow: words of affirmation gifted for my desk @michme12, a 14k gold fuckbob necklace surprise from my friend @amandakeidan, a dinner out with my beautiful bae @bryanjohnson_, vegan mayonnaise (it’s just so good), tiggie and portable tiggie (thank you @juliaallison), Goodpop organic strawberry lemonade popsicles (@imjocelyn324’s treat), an incredible “fuck Bob” photo book made with love by some of my dearest girlfriends, and of course, a slowly deflating Bob. I know I’ll get punched in the face in a few days and the tickle in my throat, sleepy eyes and swollen ankles are already teasing me. But for now, feeling immensely grateful and heart-full for everyone in life & strangers who have shown so much love and caring. Tonight: enjoying the quiet.
