Hey, everyone – @NYTransitMuseum here! For today’s #MuseumInstaSwap we’re taking over @アメリカ自然史博物館’s story to share some of the ways our collections and exhibits overlap.
This Transit Museum ad from the early 1990s gave a special shout-out to the American Museum of Natural History’s world-renowned collection of dinosaur fossils. 👉 Swipe to see some of the ‘dinosaurs’ on view at the #nytransitmuseum, and check out our Instagram story throughout the day to see #amnh treasures that lie underground in our 1936 decommissioned subway station home in Downtown Brooklyn.
Follow @NYTransitMuseum to see both stories!

Bullshit. They were not "made extinct by better forms of transportation". General Motors, Firestone Tires, and Standard oil engaged in an illegal conspiracy in restraint of trade by buying up streetcar companies and junking them to force cities to buy buses for mass transit. Capitalism is evil.

Super fun museum - I especially loved reading the old ads in the subway cars! And my girls loved pretending to be ticket collectors in the old booths!

The fossil fuel industry lobbied to for policies to replace electrified trams with combustion engine buses, they weren’t a “better technology”
