This project, for @natgeolearning in collaboration with @rippleeffectimages, is for educational text books used by millions of students around the world. Nearly all the books are filled only with large images and basic texts, mostly from the pages of @natgeo or as I am now, in country commissioned to create specific images under the theme, “Life as Lived”. I love doing these stories, ever thankful to Ripple when bringing me into such a world where I can maybe inspire young people to think. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So when in São Paulo last week, @cengage @natgeolearning took us to a new approach to daycare and learning for the littlest of little people...children 2 and younger. This place, located at SESC, was the merging of Willy Wonk colors and the strange darkness of a Tim Burton film set. Colors all drippy, things equally dripping, wonderful delusional music, all falling upon the space where these little ones could explore. Within seconds, these children, many only crawling, were in a dimensional space that took them places no conventional playgroup setting could. And the beauty, most of the time the kiddies were playing in silence, rarely crying or worried. If you ever saw the film, Brazil, this place, aptly occurring in Brazil (that Terry Gilliam film has no connectivity to Brazil whatsoever, thank goodness!), was the perfectly strange dreamlike setting to erupt the minds of children, without fear.
