Swipe - It was October 8, 2005, when the earth did what its always done. That time it was in Pakistan-administered Kashm​ir.

We’re all only allowed briefly upon the earth. Never owning it. Never able to control anything on our planet, no matter how much we believe or may try.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over 50% of Balakot, Patikka, and surrounding areas were destroyed. Estimates put the number of dead at 85,000 but it’s believe to be over 100,000. So many injured or crippled for life. Yet those who survived pushed on.

There’s this spirit, borne within us, where I’ve seen what can be done. When we no longer see ourselves as different than the other. Race, creed, borders, they no longer exist. Our commonality arrives and we realize…we’re just people.

Nature has a way of making us humble, right at those moments, when we thought we had it all together.

Photo 7: After the 7.6 quake destroyed over 50% of Patikka, the only way to cross the Neelum River was over the twisted remains of the bridge. No one ever seemed to give up, no matter how difficult it was.
