A few months ago, we introduced you to Romeo and Juliet. We've been anxiously waiting for updates on their budding relationship ever since, and we finally have news to share! The first date between Romeo, once the last-known Sehuencas water frog, and Juliet, whose discovery in the wild made headlines worldwide, went so well that the two have been living together in Romeo’s aquarium since. While they haven't quite figured out how to breed, Romeo has begun calling for the first time since the end of 2017—a sign that he is ready and eager. The pair, in addition to four additional individuals, will be the founders of a conservation breeding program @museodorbigny 's @centro_kayra as part of a broader initiative to bring this species back from the brink of extinction.
