Green flower beetles like these two photographed @zoosvictoria (Melbourne Zoo) are from a subfamily of scarabs known as “flower chafers”. As their name implies, this beetle’s main food source is pollen and nectar produced by flowers. The underside of the adult’s body is often hairy, making these beetles a perfect vehicle for pollen to hitch a ride as it travels from one plant to the next. It is believed there are nearly 4,000 species of scarab beetle – many of which have yet to be described by scientists.

What colourful beetles! My favourite photograph of yours is Amirah the Malayan Tapir calf from the Minnesota Zoo, whom I had the opportunity to watch grow up 😊. Since conservation & the environment are so important to me, I actually switched careers! In my daily life I practice reducing waste, reusing everything I can, & recycling! Friends & family have started composting with me. I have convinced them to bring reusable mugs to coffee shops, Tupperware to restaurants, bandanas/handkerchiefs instead of paper towels in restrooms, & reusable bags everywhere. I've become "that person" at work, constantly reminding people to reuse scrap paper, recycle, & also collecting our dead pens so I can mail it to an artist who makes recycled creations out of them @costasschuler . I avoid plastic as much as possible & reuse any plastic/tin I do have until it falls apart. I avoid unnecessary consumerism as much as possible since that is a great contributor to environmental degradation. Love the work you do @joelsartore - it's so inspiring!! @iburns15301 @forbes.adam18 @terryrae

The first time I saw your wildlife photography was on 60 minutes..and was blown away. Your work is truly inspiring . I am lucky to have a home in Costa Rica adjacent to the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve My favourite animals are the apes/monkeys followed by a birds and here I get to see a lot of capuchins and howlers in my garden and birds galore! being so close to nature here in Costa Rica has really made me focus more on the delicate balance of life and the miracle of nature. We are planting trees which have been denuded over the years back into our property that are indigenous and attract birds and monkeys. We have changed our light bulbs so that they do not attract insects especially in the pool where they die enmasse. We are working with the electricity company to install monkey proof electrical wires on our road. We are conscious of clean beaches and no more plastic straws!!! Paper only. I would like to invite @susanquinlan and @kezziecoops to follow your amazing work.
