Butter Lamp Festival: On the last day of the Monlam Prayer Festival, Buddhists will make, display, and light yak butter lamps to commemorate the occasion. Many butter lamps are made into figures of gods, flowers, trees, birds, and beasts. Some are quite large and elaborate, while other lamps like these being assembled and lit, are small and traditional.
