Pat Steir, the 78-year-old artist, is hitting a new tempo in life. She has an 11-painting show at the Barnes Foundation in #Philadelphia, is featured in a documentary by @rockypointpress titled “Pat Steir: Artist,” and last year, she auctioned a painting for more than $2.2 million. Pat says she’s been “forgotten and rediscovered many times” in a career stretching over 5 decades. Yet she’s been a mainstay of the #art world. Thom Collins, executive director and president of the @barnesfoundation, characterized her trajectory as a “powerful slow burn,” bringing increasing institutional and market attention that she has long deserved. “If you feel that you have to do what you do, for whatever reason, either political, public or private reasons,” Pat said, “you just go on doing it.” @edeani shot these photos of Pat at her studio in Chelsea, New York, Pat’s brushes and a piece from her “Silent Secret Waterfalls” series being showcased in Philadelphia.
