I’ve been discharged 🥳 5 days post emergency surgery and I’m finally not going to be sleeping in a hospital bed tonight 🎉 I’ve had a fairly smooth recovery so far, I’m walking, sitting and standing with relative ease considering the circumstances. My surgeon says I can eat anything I like but I’m sticking to moderate fibre foods for now under the guidance of @helenlouwest to go easy on my bowel 💁🏼‍♀️ The hardest part has been the mental aspect, I’ve been super perky every day... except yesterday. The reality of the situation hit me full force and I cried for a few hours. It’s rather scary once you realise that you could have died 😅 BUT I’m back on the positivity parade today and feeling much better. I know more low days will come but I’m ready for them 🙏🏼 And now? I’m spending 5+ days in Male recuperating. I have to stick around to get my dressings changed and eventually my stitches taken out (dreading that bit!). But once that’s all done I’ll be flying home and resting up back in London 🇬🇧 Again, thank you so much for your well wishes!
