This graceful and remarkably well-preserved sculpture of a muse is one of nine such figures which once stood atop Mount Helikon - the mythological home of the muses. The statuette, which bears a kithara as a sign of the goddesses’ association with music, song and dance, dates to circa 2nd century AD.
