for my new followers - this is why I train:

I began training in 2014 when I was recovering from an eating disorder. my intentions were to bring back Sarah the athlete - a part of my life that was taken away by anorexia. I wanted to show my body respect instead of negligence, love instead of hatred. it's really an understatement, but my story was built by self-love💜

but I didn't do this alone. while I was blessed to have the guidance of my doctors, I hit the lottery because I had my brother. aladdin paved my way to success. he was an athlete in every sense of the world, and inspired me to stay strong.

to stay strong enough than when he passed away later that year, I couldn't quit on him. as much as grief ate me alive. as much as I wanted to give up and hide behind anorexia's familiar presence. I couldn't do that to aladdin. I couldn't do that to myself.

so here I am, honouring my last memories with him - the moments that legitimately saved my life.

I train because I know what being weak feels like.

I train because I am a strong bad ass.
⠀
I train because I am empowered and capable of more than an eating disorder.
⠀
and amidst all adversity, when my heart beats to the rhythm of every rep, I train because of my brother.💜
