#SpeakingInDance | “You know when you’re a young dancer, sort of like a bunhead, and you’re watching videos?” said the @nycballet principal @joaquindeluz. “If you’re a guy, you want to fast forward through the girl’s part.” The first time he wanted to watch both parts was with #GeorgeBalanchine’s “Theme and Variations,” which he performs on October 14 as part of his farewell program. “It’s the standard of pure musicality, artistry and partnership.” In this virtuosic ballet, Joaquin said, there’s nowhere to hide. “You feel very naked,” he told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ writer @giadk. “It’s hard to explain what goes through your mind when the curtain goes up. You’re in fifth position, the lights are on and you’re on the edge of this cliff: From then on, it’s a complete adrenaline rush.” @mosadek made this video for #SpeakingInDance, our weekly series exploring the world of #dance.
