"Standing in the water late one afternoon, I was looking across the Bay toward Mt Warning (Wollumbin) when I saw the sky grow dark, and darker still. A red orb formed behind the darkness and began moving across the sky, trailing pinks and purples in its wake. Birds and animals were scurrying away in all directions, knowing a big weather event was coming. I knew I should get off the beach too, but was so transfixed I couldn’t leave. A massive lightning flash that started far away near the mountains travelled right across the bay to earth at The Pass, filling the sky with such startling light that my finger depressed the camera trigger in a reflex action. This was a wild shot and a chance in a million that it captured so perfectly the spectacular moment. After I posted this photo, I quickly got a message: ‘Thank you! We are the couple on the steps. It was my wife’s birthday!’ Here’s the thing: that day, I was not in ‘the zone’. I felt flat; things weren’t happening for me. Landscape photography requires perseverance and commitment to what you love, and this shot was a gift, reminding me to always remain open to the moment when something special is presented to you." - @seanosheaart Camera: Nikon #D7100 Lens: Nikkor AF-S 10-24mm DX ED Settings: ISO 1600 | f/4 | 1/5 sec | 10 mm #MyNikonLife #Nikon #NikonAustralia #NikonTop #NikonPhotography #NikonPhotographers #NIKKOR #MyNikonLife #Photography #NikonPhotographer #DSLR #NikonAsia #DiscoverAustralia #Australia #ThisIsAustralia #ExploringAustralia #VisitAustralia #Lightning #StormPhotography
