"I have been traveling to Hervey Bay in Queensland for the past 2 decades during the Humpback whale migration season July thru to September,I have photographed hundreds of whales during that time. This year I set out to capture a series of images quite different to the usual breaches and tail slaps.
My aim was to use a 400mm nikon lens on my D500 camera and shoot close up images of the whales. On the 25th of August on a boat called the Spirit of Hervey Bay we set out at 8.00 am on a perfect Queensland day, no wind and no swell and clear blue skies." - @tonyscottphotography
Australia is blessed with some of the most incredibly diverse and unique marine life. Here's a fun fact: Hervey Bay, where this shot was taken, is home to the famous white whale Migaloo!
