The bright red and orange architecture blends in with the eye-popping trees, giving them a formal structure. This is the Tofukuji temple where the crowds are intense at this time of year, and you get shuffled over small bridges in long lines. The views make the experience worth it. Looking up, the leaves blanket the sky. Looking down, sand and stone zen gardens are like visual deep breaths.
